
About Rachel
Rachel Mellman is a soprano originally from California’s San Francisco Bay Area. As a child, Rachel’s family fostered a love of singing and performing and, at ten, she began performing in community and school theatre productions. Thanks to a few influential teachers, Rachel began seriously studying classical vocal performance during college. After graduating from the University of Washington with degrees in Astronomy and Drama Performance, Rachel performed her first operatic role: Zerlina in Don Giovanni. After that, Rachel was hooked.
Since then, Rachel has performed roles including Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni (Lawrence Opera Theatre), Venus in Orphée aux Enfers (The Broad Stage, Santa Monica), Cenicienta and Malaria in Cenicienta and Nadia Presencia in Marea Roja in their U.S. premieres with CSUN Opera, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte (CSUN Opera), Mimì (cover) in La Boheme (CSUN Opera), Clorinda in La Cenerentola (Lawrence Opera Theatre), and Despina in Così Fan Tutte (Opera al Mare). Rachel recieved her Master of Music with Distinction from California State University – Northridge. This summer, Rachel is excited to be joining Opera in the Ozarks as an Emerging Artist performing Micaëla in Carmen and Cinderella in Into the Woods!
