Rachel Mellman is a soprano originally from California’s San Francisco Bay Area. As a child, Rachel’s family fostered a love of singing and performing and, at ten, she began performing in community and school theatre productions. Thanks to a few influential teachers, Rachel began seriously studying classical vocal performance during college. After graduating from the University of Washington with degrees in Astronomy and Drama Performance, Rachel performed her first operatic role: Zerlina in Don Giovanni. After that, Rachel was hooked.

Since then, Rachel has performed roles including Micaëla in Carmen and Cinderella in Into the Woods as an Emerging Artist with Opera in the Ozarks, Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Venus in Orphée aux Enfers, Cenicienta and Malaria in Cenicienta and Nadia Presencia in Marea Roja in their U.S. premieres with CSUN Opera, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and Mimì (cover) in La Boheme. Rachel received her Master of Music with Distinction from California State University – Northridge.
